FAQ

FAQ

How do I book my first appointment?

To schedule your first appointment, please contact the appropriate office to speak with our client care manager, who will guide you through the intake process. For the Fredericton/Oromocto office, call 506-206-7737, and for the Halifax office, call 902-443-7191. During the intake process, we’ll gather your contact details, insurance information, and reasons for seeking counselling or mental health support to prepare your file for your assigned counsellor or mental health support worker. Alternatively, you can send us a message through our contact us page or email us at info@havenforhope.ca to request an appointment. Our client care manager will then reach out to complete the intake process.

How long are the wait times?

The wait time for your first appointment is typically no more than two weeks.

How long is each session?

Each counselling session lasts 60 minutes.

Which location will I be seen at?

We have offices in Fredericton and Oromocto serving the New Brunswick region, with our counsellors and mental health support workers traveling between these locations to meet you at the most convenient office. Additionally, we have an office in Halifax. All of our providers also offer virtual sessions.

What are the fees?

Fees range from $75 to $175. This includes services provided by a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work, a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work, a Licensed Counselling Therapist in New Brunswick, a Registered Counselling Therapist in Nova Scotia, and a Mental Health Support Worker.

Our Mental Health Support Workers have made application to the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers to be regulated as Social Work Technicians, are insured, and adhere to the Social Worker & Social Work Technician Scopes of Practice set by the Association. These paraprofessionals have the skills to assist Counsellors and provide hands on interventions, with the goal of helping clients to achieve optimal social functioning and well-being.

Do we do diagnoses or assessments?

We do not offer diagnostic or formal assessment services.

Do we direct bill?

We are covered by many EAP and insurance plans. Before booking, please contact your plan to verify your coverage and the type of provider you’re eligible for. Currently, we can direct bill for Blue Cross, Greenshield, and Campus Trust. Additionally, we collaborate with Telus Health, and the following insurance companies permit us to direct bill for social workers, and in some cases, for counselling therapists as well.
